The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is currently recruiting to fill 4 entry-level, permanent, full-time positions. You will be an Army CIVILIAN, no military service is required.
This intern program is sponsored by the USACE Dam and Levee Safety Program, a critical Army mission with the responsibility for reducing life loss and property loss due to flooding events. The Dam and Levee Safety Program has a huge impact on state and local governments, the environment, and American people living up- and downstream of these projects. USACE is a world leader in Dam and Levee Safety and owns many of the largest dams and levees in the United States. Approximately 15 million people live and work in the inundated areas below our 709 dams and a similar population lives and works behind the roughly 15,000 miles of levees for which USACE has authority. These positions require someone who is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of millions of Americans who are affected by flooding every year.
You will spend 3 years developing into an expert in Dam and Levee Safety through formal classroom training, online self-directed study, and on-the-job experiential training.
This is an exciting opportunity to enter the Dam & Levee Safety field at the ground level. You will have the opportunity to travel across the U.S. to see construction projects for large dam safety modifications. Therefore, you must be available to travel for long durations while in this position. We estimate that you will be in a travel status up to 75% of your first 3 years. After your training program is completed, you will be placed in a permanent position within the Dam and Levee Safety program.
This is a 3 year training program, leading to a permanent GS-12 position as an Army Civilian. You will receive an annual promotion as you progress through the program.
Year 1 Salary: $48,488
