Join the field of Correctional Nursing at the South Dakota State Penitentiary! We have a full-time position that works three 12-hour shifts per week. Correctional health nurses work autonomously to provide health care to an underserved population in a secure environment. Nurses are involved in diverse care such as chronic care maintenance, acute care, emergency response, behavioral health needs, long-term and geriatric care, and drug and alcohol withdrawal. These are provided in a clinic environment and also include specialty cares via telehealth. Nurses will have a set schedule and be included in a weekend and holiday rotation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb up to three flights of stairs.

Licenses and Certifications:
Must be licensed or be eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in South Dakota.

- apply nursing techniques as delegated by physicians or registered nurses;
- establish and maintain effective relationships with patients and staff;
- direct and monitor direct care personnel.
