Candidates must be accepted into one of the Graduate Programs here at Lander University prior to beginning the position.
Compensation: Selected candidate will receive a 50% tuition and fee waiver as well as a $3000 stipend per semester. Note that if the GA position does not relate directly to their graduate studies the student will be taxed on the stipend and tuition benefits. Graduate Assistants work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year. Graduate Assistantships may be renewed for one additional year.
GA Primary Responsibilities: Provide technology support to smart classrooms, labs and infrastructure resources as well as to serve as technical writer and documenter for IT communication rooms and technology spaces and classrooms; help install hardware and software as well as basic network equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge and interest of common microcomputer applications, such as word processing and spreadsheet, multimedia tools, basic knowledge in networking and servers as well as the use of the Internet. Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with a variety of campus constituencies. The successful Graduate Assistant will gain very valuable hands-on experience working for a modern Information Technology Office while serving as team member.
