Paid Internship Opportunity – National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium (NTIC)

The District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) manages and coordinates the District’s unified planning, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts for all disasters, whether natural or man-made, that occur in the District of Columbia. The National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium (NTIC) is the District of Columbia’s fusion center. The fusion center is response for the receipt, analysis and sharing of threat-related information between local, federal, and private sector partners. NTIC interns have an opportunity to help us collect and analyze data, work with stakeholders, write intelligence products and provide briefings on the threat environment.
HSEMA is looking for highly-skilled graduate students, that are interested in homeland security and emergency management related matters and how these practices protect life and property. In particular, the NTIC is seeking students majoring in:
- Applied Intelligence
- Criminal Justice
- Emergency Management/Homeland Security
- Geographic Information Systems
- Law Enforcement
- Information Technology/Computer Science
- Public Administration/Policy
HSEMA is seeking highly-skilled and enthusiastic graduate and undergraduate students interested in careers in homeland security and emergency management. Interns are exposed to a unique and dynamic environment showcasing governmental and nongovernmental coordination. In the past, interns had the opportunity to work alongside local, state, and federal partners on coordinated events in the District. Interns attend large-scale exercises and events with public and private partners to expand their network, grow as professionals, and have the experience of a lifetime. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, timeliness, effective communication, and enthusiasm for learning. Accepted interns must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week and a maximum of 32 hours per week.
Internship Eligibility and Requirements
HSEMA is looking for highly-skilled graduate and undergraduate students currently enrolled, who are in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 at a U.S. college or university. Enrollment must be supported by a transcript or an official letter from school administration. It cannot be a letter from a professor.
