The CSU Police Department is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the campus community. Officers patrol over 90 acres of state property in addition to surrounding city streets. On any given day, over 35,000 students, faculty, staff, and visitors may be on campus at one time. The CSU Police Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Supplementing University Police Officers, CSU Security Officers are stationed strategically around campus to make a highly visible presence and assist students and visitors. Security Officers provide safety escorts to and from vehicles and classroom buildings. They also perform lower-risk security tasks such as securing buildings after hours, patrolling campus parking areas, and other such responsibilities, freeing up Police Officers to handle more serious or threatening aspects of campus safety and security.
Job Summary: CSU is in search of multiple Security Officers to assist in maintaining security of grounds and/or buildings by independently conducting security and safety inspections or rounds on foot and/or in motor vehicle. The selected incumbents will be responsible for checking for unusual or abnormal conditions or occurrences, securing buildings, and monitoring intrusion detection equipment if applicable. Security Officers also assist with investigations of crimes, complaints or accidents, provide safety escort services, prepares reports, documents incidents and routes related information to appropriate personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; One year security related experience or equivalent vocational training. Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time; ability to work rotating shifts; skill in use of keyboard and personal computers. Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy. Preferred Qualifications: Security experience in a university setting. Preference may be given to candidates with unarmed security experience.
